Agriculture minister distributes welfare schemes worth Rs 12.91 lakhs

Thanjavur: The state agriculture minister, R Duraikannu, today distributed welfare assistance to the tune of Rs 12.91 lakhs to 171 beneficiaries during a function held at the Papanasam union office meeting hall today.

The assistance includes issuing family cards to 71 beneficiaries, and extending marriage assistance to 43 men and 14 women under the Uzhavar Pathagappu Thittam.

Later, the minister also declared open the two-wheeler parking lot, erected on the premises of the Papanasm Higher Secondary School, at a cost of Rs. 5 lakhs, allocated from the MP’s Local Area Development Fund.

District Collector A. Annadurai, MP Bharathimohan, Sub Collector M. Govinda Rao, former MLA Ramkumar, town panchayat president Karunanidhi, Union Chairman Gopinathan, Deputy Collector (Social Security Scheme) Udayakumar, District Supply Officer Gangadaran, and Taluk Supply Officer Sargunam were among those who participated in the event.
