Thanjavur: An AIADMK activist was arrested in Thanjavur today on the charge of distributing cash to voters. A sum of Rs 41,300 was seized from him.

On a tip off that two AIADMK activists were distributing cash to voters at Chozhan Nagar in Pillaiyarpatti panchayat, a static surveillance team, led by Senthilkumar, along with CRPF personnel, rushed there and caught an activist red handed and seized the money from him. However, another managed to escape.

The arrested person was identified as P. Irulan (36), resident of Kodikkal street, Pettavaithalai area, Tiruchi district.

The Tamil University police have registered a case.
