Senior AIADMK minister O. Paneerselvam has called the allegations of Union Minister Piyush Goyal, against the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, “baseless” and accused him of trying to seek “political mileage.”

Goyal had said that he could not meet with either the Chief Minister or the Minister of the State to discuss power reforms.

Paneerselvam listed out several instances of meetings between Jayalalithaa and various central ministers starting from the Prime Minister Narendra Modi since 2014. Terming the statement of Piyush Goyal as “baseless,” Paneerselvam accused him of “seeking political mileage out of it.”

The Tamil Nadu Finance Minister clarified that Jayalalithaa was constantly communicating with the centre on various issues, including the Indian fishermen-Sri Lankan navy dispute.
