Now every new customer who is opting for Aircel network would get free data pack for the first 90 days from the date of activation, thanks to the newly launched Free Basic Internet (FBI) browsing plan launched here on Thursday.
According to K.Sankara Naryanan, the Strategic Business Head of the company for South India, the aim of the new product is to increase data usage among basic internet users.
“According to the plan, all new customers will get free internet for 90 days at a speed of 64 kbps for both 2G and 3G,” he informed. He added that the customers can use social media including Facebook, Whatsapp, email, browse net and also use other basic applications. However, he stated that the customers cannot watch video streaming, video chat, play online games and download movies.
“The plan is designed for basic users and was designed after understanding the data using behavior of our customers. There is no extra charge for the pack and once it is over, they can recharge the pack at a cost of 144 voice call recharge,” Sankara said.
He explained that according to a research carried out by his team, they had found out that 70 per cent of the customers used data for ten days in a month with an average of 66 MB while only 11 percent of the customers use maximum amount of data up to 949 MB for 25 days.
“The basic level customers use the data for chatting applications; social media and internet browsing. Hence, we believe the plan would be more than sufficient for new users. Existing customers can also get free basic internet for a 144 rupees voice call recharge,” he said.
