Airport inspected to prevent possible spread of Zika virus

A five-member team from Directorate of Public Health today carried out an inspection at the Airport, as part of an exercise to prevent the possible spread of Zika virus.

The public health officers, including Deputy Director, Dr. S. Somasundaram, Joint Director (Vector Borne Disease Control), Dr. S. Saravanan inspected the airport area, whether there were any mosquito breeding grounds, official sources said.

The international departure and arrival terminals were also included in the inspection, as per the guidelines from the Health Ministry, they said.

The officials expressed satisfaction on the sanitary conditions, airport sources said.

One Health officer has been positioned in the airport to monitor the situation and also public with symptoms, the sources said.
