Amma Parks, Amma Gyms soon in villages!

Chennai: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today announced in the Assembly, under Rule 110, that Amma Parks and Amma Gyms will be constructed in rural areas, in order to ensure the mental and physical health of the rural folks.

The chief minister announced that 500 Amma Parks will be set up this year, with games and exercise equipment for children, women, and senior citizens; pathways; cement benches; gardens; and toilets, at a cost of Rs.100 crores.

500 Amma Gyms will be constructed in the villages at a cost of Rs.10 lakhs each, for the mental and physical wellbeing of the village youngsters.

Conversion of 900 kms of soil roads into tar roads, major repair works on 1400 km long stretch of tar road, construction of 10 new Village Panchayat Office buildings, construction of wells for irrigation, 1000 new anganwadis for children and pregnant women, renovation of small irrigation lakes all over the state, and installing LED street lights were among the other announcements made by the Chief Minister today.
