Chennai: Blue whale challenge – a deadly internet based game that has a deadly ending – claimed another victim, this time in Puducherry after a first year MBA student, 21 year old Shashikant Bora, committed suicide on Thursday midnight at the Puducherry hostel where he was staying.

Students of the university found him hanging from a tree in the hostel at midnight, Thursday, police said. The police is yet to confirm if he was indeed a victim of Blue Whale challenge, but his classmates told media persons on Friday that “he was seen to be very depressed for the past four days or so.”

According to the students, the deceased had downloaded the Blue Whale game on his mobile and had also saved it on his computer. However, there were no marks found on his body as was found on the left arm of Vighnesh, the Madurai college student who committed suicide on Wednesday.

But like him, Shashikant also hung himself to take his life. Many victims of the game, the world over, had jumped to death.

“Shashikant had sent messages on watsap that he was the admin of the Blue Whale watsap group,” a few students told media persons on Friday.

Police is investigating the case. Further details will be intimated once the investigation is complete, a senior police officer said in Puducherry.
