Armed gang fatally attacks construction worker

A five-member armed gang last night attacked a construction worker with lethal weapons, killing him on the spot, near Kumbakonam. Previous enmity was said to be behind the murder.
Sundarapandian, 36, resident of Ambedkar Nagar in Sakkottai was standing in front of his house when the gangsters, led by Anbazhagan of the same area, came there and attacked him with the weapons indiscriminately. While Sundarapandian died on the spot, his father Pounraj and brother Marudupandian (30) sustained injuries. They have been admitted to Government Headquarters Hospital in Kumbakonam.
Nachiarkoil police rushed to the scene of crime. Upon investigation, police have now taken into custody Anbazhagan and his four sons – Anbunidhi, Arivunidhi, Arulnidhi and Azhagunidhi. Investigations are on.
