Road traffic came to a grinding halt for nearly half an hour at Attupalam, near the city toll gate after the drivers and conductors of the Government buses went on a flash strike and stopped the vehicles across the road following the reports of an assault on their colleague by two youths.

According to police, the incident took place when the bus reportedly brushed the young men who were on a motorcycle. They stopped their motorcycle, got into the bus and physically assaulted the driver at around 10.45 AM.

The driver stopped the bus right at the spot and, as the news of the attack began to spread, all the buses on that route, connecting Palakkad and Pollach highways, stopped where they were, creating a huge traffic jam.

Police rushed to the spot and took the assaulters for interrogation. The driver was admitted to the Government Hospital. Traffic was restored by 11.20 AM.
