Chennai: `Avalathigaram’, an independent film be showcasing the life of a transgender with all its romance. Director Jeyaraj Palani makes this bold move to create an awareness about the lives, the pain and the hurdles an individual goes through during transformation.

In an interview, Arshath Feras, the protagonist, says, “Initially when the director approached, I thought it would be a small role. Little did I realise that I was going to play the lead. When I was told the story, I never had any second thought. It was a strong and intense script and acting is the only art that lives within me”.

“It’s not just a movie but the life of a transgender. I should say transgenders are the sweetest people I’ve come across and I had also worked with a couple of them for this film. All they want is to be loved and be a part of the society just like any of us. When an individual realises that he wants to be different from inside but is a wholly different person on the outside, the pressure and stress builds and in most cases the families who get to know of their child’s transformation throw them out.”

He hopes this movie would impact every human being and their understanding about an individual’s transformation, thereby giving them equality, offering them jobs and especially families who understand this whole process and give them opportunities and help them in any small way they can.
