The incidents of fever, particularly AH1N1 Influenza, have drastically come down in the last one week in the district, thanks to the awareness spread by the district administration and health department, a top official in Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) said.
Early summer heat and healthy practices, such as washing hands with soap frequently, also helped bringing down the vector borne disease incidents, CMCH Dean Edwin Joe said.
As of now, only four A H1N1 (swine flu) positive and eight dengue positive and 11 with swine flu symptoms and 19 with normal fever are undergoing treatment in the hospital, he said.
He also appealed to the relatives of those undergoing treatment for swine flu in private hospitals to come forward and get examined in the Government hospital and take medicines to prevent the spread of the disease.
The figure had crossed the 100 mark a week ago and Swine flu has taken a toll of nearly 20 since December last.
