In a tragic incident, a one-year-old girl died after she fell into a bucketful of water that was kept in the kitchen of the house on Variety Hall Road, in Coimbatore.

The mother of the baby had patted her to sleep in another room along with her two-year-old son, and had gone to wash the clothes. When she returned, she found the girl child missing and searched the entire neighbourhood.

Meanwhile, the child’s father, a goldsmith by profession, reached home, on hearing that the baby had gone missing. To his shock, he found the body in the bucket filled with water.

The child’s body was taken to the Government Hospital for post-mortem. Further investigations are on.
