Salim Badsha, a physically challenged person, has been selling balloons along the city streets for years together. He has been living on a pavement near Town Hall along with his wife and four children. His repeated pleas to the collectorate to allot him a patta (title deed) has fallen on deaf ears.
“I live on the money that I get from selling balloons. I have not been provided with ration card, voter ID or an aadhar card as I live on pavement,” he said.
Salim says his future is insecure in the streets as something might happen to his daughters and family because of the insecurity.
“I have requested the administration many times to provide me with a proper patta land or a house allotted by the Government in subsidy so that I can move in with my family. I am not able to get any proper certificate issued by the Government because of my current situation,” he pondered.
Salim has filed a petition with District Collector T.N. Hariharan in this regard.
