Actor Kamal Hassan and his movies have never been short of controversies. In a recent issue, his upcoming film ‘Sabash Naidu’ has certainly created a stir among some people in Coimbatore. Not the movie, but the title under which the movie is being shot.

The movie carries the name of a particular community and actor Kamal Hassan is all set to don the lead role.

M. Jayapal, a lawyer practicing in Coimbatore has found the title of the movie very offensive and has come out to file a petition against the title.

Submitting the petition to the District Collector Archana Patnaik here on Monday, Jayapal alleged that the movie was filmed in a manner that a particular community was praised.

“The character is a representation of that caste and he is portrayed as above others the movie. How can such a thing be allowed in a diverse country like India?” he claimed.

He further added if the movie is released, it would create unrest in the peaceful society.

“The Government should ban such controversial and casteist film titles,” he alleged.

A recreation from the character in the movie, Dhasavatharam, the character Balaram Naidu, which received positive criticism would be on screen in a story titled on the character and donned by the actor.
