Bank unions threaten nation wide stir

The All India Bank Officers Confederation (AIBOC) has threatened to go on a nationwide strike on February 29 to put pressure on the Thrissur-based Dhanalakshmi Bank to reinstate an officer.

According to the AIBOC, the management of Dhanalakshmi Bank had expelled P.V. Mohanan without assigning proper reasons. P.V. Mohanan was the general secretary of the Dhanlaxmi Bank Officers Organisation.

In a statement, the AIBOC said that Mohanan was removed from his job without any proper inquiry, because he had revealed the irregularities committed by a board member of the bank. The management, after protests by the employees, agreed to revert to the previous status quo that existed prior to Mohanan’s suspension.

“But the management remained silent about reinstating Mohanan. The AIBOC has decided to hence go on a nationwide strike on February 29, 2016 demanding Mohanan’s reinstatement,” the association said in its statement.
