Coimbatore ; In a noble gesture, a beggar in Mettupalayam near here contributed half of his daily earnings to the Gaja cyclone affected.

As part of sending relief materials, an organisation 'Namathu Mettupalayam' and others were collecting relief materials from general public and sending to various cyclone affected areas.

The office bearers of the organisation noticed an old physically handicapped person was standing before the collection centre last night and inquired with him.

They were shell shocked on his reply, as the 70-year old Mohankumar, eking his livehood by begging, wanted to contributed some money he received as alms, police said on Sunday.

As the old man was wondering  if they will accept Rs.12 towards the relief measures, all at the Centre became emotional and readily accepted the contribution from the beggar.
