Bid to break open ATM, police launch manhunt for youth

Police are on the look out for a youth, who tried to break open an ATM in Narasimhanaicken Palayam on the outskirts in the wee hours of Wednesday.

The CCTV footage placed in the ATM revealed that the youth, wearing a half pant with his face covered, trying to break the machine around 1.30 a.m., police said.

As the youth laid his hand, there was a beep sound, which alerted the SBI headquarters in Mumbai, who in turn alerted the local branch.

The youth managed to escape after he heard the sound, they said and on a complaint from the bank officials, police rushed to the spot.

Based on the CCTV footage, police are taking efforts to trace the youth.
