Coimbatore : A senior State BJP functionary today created a flutter when he walked into the airport with a bullet in his bag and was stopped by security personnel.

State BJP secretary G K Selvakumar arrived at the airport to board a flight to Chennai and on screening, the security noticed a bullet in the baggage. The local station was immediately informed, police said.

Inquiry revealed that the bullet was of a gun with valid licence.

Selvakumar told the police that the bullet remained in the baggage and he had not noticed while packing for the journey, police said.

Later he was allowed to board the flight, after handing over the bullet to his driver, they said.
