Releasing the BJP’s manifesto for the Assembly polls in Chennai on Thursday, party’s former national president and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that it was a vision document for the development of the State.

The manifesto said it would take steps in constituting Cauvery Management Board to secure required water from Karnataka and launch UDAY scheme, which was not implemented by the AIADMK government, besides promising to impose total prohibition in the State if the party was voted to power.

“The UDAY scheme, which was rejected by the AIADMK government, will ensure uninterrupted power supply to all the households in the State”, Gadkari said.

The manifesto, apart from finding solution to the attacks on Indian fishermen by Lankan Navy, promised to waive off all farmer loans in the State if it came to power.

While promising that it would remove all encroachments from water bodies, the manifesto said if the BJP formed the next government, it would also take over sand mining.

The document, which promised 50 per cent subsidy to all solar projects, said the party would bring Lokayukta to the State.

Education on par with CBSE system, introduction of yoga and meditation from Standard VI, Rs. 5,000 monthly assistance to girls till Plus-Two, eight gram gold for women living below the poverty line for their marriage, 20 litres of free drinking water per month, protection of temple lands, and extension of the AYUSH scheme in all the districts, were the other highlights of the manifesto.
