Borstal School SP transferred on bribery charges

Superintendent of Central Jail A. Murugesan today transferred the Superintendent of Borstal School in Pollachi, P Parameswaran, with immediate effect, following bribery charges against him. Parameswaran has been transferred to Singanallur Open Jail and Chandreasekharan of Central Prison has been posted to Pollachi.
The decision to transfer Parameswaran was taken after 38 inmates of the school (formerly Sub-Jail) observed a fast, alleging that the SP was demanding money from their relatives to show official favours.Earlier in the day, advocates of Pollachi Bar Association also staged a demonstration against Parameswaran for reportedly demanding money for granting bails for the inmates.
Parameswaran was not not immediately available for comments.
