Bus stand wall gets colourful, festive look

Coimbatore : In order to give more colour to the festival of lights, Deepavali, a city-based organisation, Sunday painted the entire stretch of Ukkadam Bus stand with landmark images.

The initiative was part of Chandrans Yuva Foundation’s Individual Social Responsibility, by which the people can watch the important landmark images of the city on the compound walls in Ukkadam locality.

Around 100 members of Yuva team including youngsters, differently abled persons painted the entire stretch of Ukkadam bus stand wall with colourful landmark images till TNSTC bus depot, covering nearly 4,000 square feet.

The theme is “This Deepavali let’s add colours to our city- Vanam colours of Kovai” and the initiative was executed by the Founder of Foundation Sivanesan, Director Shasikala.

The members gathered at the bus stand around 6.30 AM, cleaned the entire area of Ukkadam and white washed the compound walls. Then artistically painted the compound with different landmarks of Coimbatore, Sasikala said.

The main motto of this event is that this Deepavali should have more colourful celebrations in reality and members joined together and given a fresh colourful look to the bus stand wall, Sasikala said.

Apart from the colourful painting to Ukkadam bus stand wall, this event had involved the talented of differently abled to expose their artistic painting, she said.

Special Commissioner of Coimbatore City Corporation, Dr Vijayakarthkeyan. senior officials from Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation and, Smart City project appreciated the initiative.
