Buses warned against bypassing bus stand

The transport police has warned buses that do not enter the new designated Mettupalayam bus stand will be slapped a fine of Rs500.

The warning follows complaints that buses do not enter the bus stand and let passengers get out on the road just outside the bus stand. This includes buses that are headed for Ooty and Mettupalayam.

The issue was discussed at the Police Commissioner’s Office at a meeting to improve transport in the city. It was pointed out that since the buses were stopping on the roads, it is not just proving inconvenient for the passengers but also causing traffic jams.

Police have placed warning boards near the bus stand to ensure compliance.
