The Home Guards of Coimbatore District facilitated supply of uniforms and boots, sponsored by the Round Table, for the Naxal Special Division Officers in Coimbatore today. Superintendent of Police RV Ramya Bharathi distributed the kits to 28 NSD personnel.

“The Naxal Special Division of Police, formed to check entry of Maoists into the State forests, have been performing very well despite several odds,” said Home Guards Area Commander Balaji Raju. In a bid to ensure that the NSD personnel working in a rugged terrain comfortably and effectively, sufficient special kits and other equipment are being organised, he said.

The Superintendent of Police said that the distribution of uniforms was part of the welfare measures done to the personnel. Besides this the District Police has been engaged in several tribal welfare measures to ensure that the inhabitants of the area are not influenced by Maoists.
