Car catches fire in parking lot

The front portion of a car was damaged when it caught fire when its driver tried to start it at a parking lot of a commercial complex in Puliyakulam on Friday morning. Luckily there was no casualty.

According to police, Muralikrishnan, a native of Kerala, tried to start his Hyundai i 10, when its engine caught fire. He immediately got out of the car. He tried to control the flames using extinguishers, but in vain.

Immediately he alerted the Fire Service personnel, who rushed to the spot and put out the fire.

The complex houses several offices, including Lakshmi Vilas Bank, TATA Communications. All those present in the complex at the time of accident were evacuated immediately.
