Udhagamandalam: A tourist had a miraculous escape suffering minor injuries after his car fell off a bridge on to a railway track 50 feet below. Train services along the Coonoor-Ooty section were disrupted.

Soundarrajan from Thanjavur was travelling in his car for having tea in the morning when he lost control of his vehicle, reportedly to avoid an animal in front, and fell on the track between Ellanahalli and Ketti, police said.

He sustained minor injuries and came out of the vehicle as people rushed to his rescue. He told police that he noticed a leopard cross the road and out of fear lost control of the vehicle. He underwent treatment later.

Passengers of the Coonoor-Ooty train were stranded as the line was cleared after nearly an hour.
