The Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation today conducted a cleanup drive in the VOC Grounds, the venue of pro-Jallikattu protests, here. The Corporation Commissioner, Dr. K. Vijayakarthikeyan, supervised the operation.

A large number of people from all walks of life had gathered in the grounds to protest against the ban on Jallikattu. Many even stayed there even during night times. Majority of the protesters were students and youths.

The garbage that was collected in the venue – plastic, food waste and paper waste – were periodically cleared by the civic staff with the help of volunteers.

The pro-Jallikattu supporters too collected the waste in bags and kept in for safe disposal.
