Chennai Floods: Relief materials from Mettupalayam lorry owners

A truck loaded with food material contributed by the members of the Mettupalayam Lorry Owners Association (MLOA) left for Chennai at midnight, Friday.

As part of phase one, the members have been collecting non-perishable food items including bread, biscuits, water, medicines, and bedsheets until midnight. The team had managed to gather about 2 tons of bread, 5 tons of biscuits, 5 tons of water bottles, 1 ton medicines, bedsheets, napkins and toothpastes in a truck.

According to sources, the truck will arrive at Basin Bridge in Chennai from where the materials will be sent to the disaster-struck people, as per the directions of the District Collector and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Chennai.

The people of Mettupalayam and surrounding areas who are willing to contribute can send items like water-bottles, biscuits, rusk packets, new readymade clothes, new bedsheets, new mats, carpets, medicines and tablets, processed eatables, and tarpaulins.
