Based on a two-year-long study, the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has declared Chennai port to be free from heavy congestion.
The study says that the average transit time of container trailers has reduced from 40 hours in 2014 to 14.54 hours in the start of 2016. According to the most recent reports, the time has further reduced to about 7.5 hours.
Cyril C. George, the Chairman of Chennai Port, has revealed that the port is all set to accomplish its target of zero congestion very soon.
