Two city-based rock bands left their audience spellbound with music at Brookefields Mall, which is one of the venues of Coimbatore Vizha.

The eight edition of Coimbatore Vizha, hosted at multiple venues, gives people an opportunity to attend the events that interest them. These events are organized in various categories like culture, art, music, heritage, literature, sports, and health. Music was yesterday’s special treat.

First of the performers was Laazh, an all-boy band that played rock music. “We are a team of seven. It is the passion that we share for rock music that has brought us together,” he began.

“Depending on our availability, at least five out of the seven members perform regularly in and around the city,” Saravana Gowtham, founder and member of Lazzh, said. To their credit, Laazh has composed the music track ‘Namma ooru Covai’ last year. Saravana said that the song, dedicated to the city, brings out the positive aspects of Coimbatore city.

Currently, the band consists of Edwin Dass (drummer and keyboardist), Prince (vocalist and drummer), Antony (lead guitarist), Deepak (keyboardist and base guitarist), Sri Ram (vocalist), Mukesh (keyboardist) and Saravana Gowtham (lead and base guitarist).

Laazh band was followed by a band of 10 students from PSG College of Technology. The music club and music bands of this college are as old as the college itself. When one batch of students completed their academic programme and pass out of the college, a new batch replaces them. It is through extensive auditions that the members of the music band, Tek Music, are chosen. “We perform at inter-college cultural events. We have participated and won at several music competitions as well,” Karthik C, one of the members of Tek Music, said.

At the eight edition of Coimbatore Vizha, this band left the audience entertained by performing some light music numbers.
