‘Clean India’ campaign’ launched in Nilgiris

Udhagamandalam: The regional centre of ICAR-IISWC in Udhagamandalam launched its ‘Clean India Campaign’ in Madithoral village in Thumanatty panchayat. The programme is part of the ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’.

The mission was started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 2, 2014. This year the programme from September, 15 to October, 2.

The campaign highlighted the need for segregation of biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste. Scientists from IISWC enlightened people about this. Pamphlets on having toilets at homes were distributed among people.

A large number of students from the district took a pledge on ‘Thuimaiye Sevai’ (swachhta hi seva) and cleaned the area around Arignar Anna Stadium in Ooty.
