CMCH team performs 11 successful renal transplants

The Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital has completed 11 kidney transplants successfully in the last nine months. The recipients, all from Coimbatore and surrounding districts, are in good health.

According to a press release, the first renal transplant was performed in the hospital on January 23 this year. The hospital caters to patients from Coimbatore, Tirupur, Nilgiris, Palani and Erode.

The procedure is covered under the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme.

A team of doctors headed by Dr. A Prabhakaran, Head of the Nephrology Department of the Hospital, performed the surgeries. The team included Dr. Karunanidhi and Dr. Santha Arulmozhi.
