Cobbler split into two in accident

A 40-year cobbler died on the spot when he was hit by a tipper lorry carrying gravel sand at the Chettipalayam junction.The victim, Pazhanisamy, lived at the Mariamman street at Chettipalayam.

He was standing near a bakery at the junction when the lorry, which was coming from Palladam, unexpectedly hit him and overturned, trapping him.People informed the police when their attempt to extricate Pazhanisamy failed.

A crane and poclain were rushed to the spot and when they lifted back the lorry on its wheels, police found Pazhanisamy’s body, which was split into two.The horrific accident sparked anger amongst the public who blocked roads, causing traffic snarls.

They said they Pothanur-Chettipalayam road has become a death trap with many accidents happening, and demanded speed breakers and a roundtana to streamline traffic.Driver Chandru, 20 has been arrested.
