Coimbatore gets ready for local body polls

The Tamil Nadu State Election Commissioner, P Seetharaman said today that the draft electoral roll for the ensuing local body elections will be released on September 1.
Seetharaman, who was in Coimbatore for a review meeting on the preparedness for the polls, told reporters that preliminary works, such as identifying the booths and the number of EVMs required, have already completed.
“Necessary security arrangements will be made for smooth conduct of the elections, and extra force will be deployed at sensitive booths,” he said.
Coimbatore District Collector, TN Hariharan; City Police Commissioner, A Amalraj; and senior district police and election department officials participated in the meeting.
