A prostitution ring run from a house in Coimbatore has been broken up by police in a raid that has revealed information about resort and club owners who have used the services.
Acting on a tip-off, police officials raided a house at Subramaniya Udaiyar Street in Telungupalayam, arresting its 20-year-old owner V Mohammed Harish from Karaikudi.
He was living with his family and children in one portion of the house with another used as a brothel. But he had told his friends and neighbours that he was running a spa and massage parlour in his house.
Four sex workers from the house were rescued during the Sunday raid and Harish and his 31-year-old accomplice Ramesh from Palakkad, who procured clients, have been remanded to judicial custody.
Cases have been booked against them under various sections of Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act.
Harish had told people in the neighbourhood that the women were hired by him for the spa and massage parlour.
Police have not filed any case against the resort and club owners, so far. Names of some resorts in Alandurai and Chennai, where the duo sent sex workers, have also been revealed.
However, officials said they were conducting investigations with the managers and owners of these resorts.
