Coimbatore traders observe hunger strike against online retail

Coimbatore : Nearly 300 traders today observed a one-day hunger strike in the city, demanding among other things a ban on online retail business, which wasaffecting small traders across the country.

The traders, under the banner of Tamil Nadu Vanigar Sangham and supported by hotel owners association and plastic manufacturers association, wanted the Centre to ban the e-commerce to protect small traders.

They also wanted Tamil Nadu Government to allow the use of recycled plastic materials.

Karthik, MLA, visited traders during their protest strike.
