T.N. Hariharan today assumed charge as the new district collector of Coimbatore. He replaces Ms. Archana Patnaik. He was previously the district collector of Dindigul.

Hariharan had, in the past, held posts of Executive Director of Metro Water, and the Managing Director Tamil Nadu Housing Board. He takes charge at a time when man-animal conflict is fast becoming a problem that cannot be ignored anymore, with elephant mortality increasing drastically.

Prevention of man-human conflict in the Western Ghat region, steps to ensure that the Government schemes reach their intended beneficiaries, and easing the traffic congestion in the city with assistance of police are some of his priorities, Hariharan said.
