Coimbatore’s Patanjali Yog Samiti celebrates Yoga Day

As part of International Yoga Day celebrations, people of all age groups, from different walks of life participated in the yoga session that was organized by the Patanjali Yog Samiti today, at the Kikani Vidhya Mandir School, Coimbatore.

Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC) commissioner Dr. K. Vijay Karthikeyan inaugurated the session, conducted by the yoga trainers affiliated to the Coimbatore chapter of the Patanjali Yog Samiti.

The public was allowed to participate in today’s session for free. Former Air Force member Abhijeet Bose demonstrated some basic yoga techniques. “I’m happy to be a part of the Patanjali Yog Samiti, and I’m also happy to take yoga to the masses. Yoga is a scientific technique that has many benefits. These days when a majority of people are becoming victims to the various lifestyle diseases and disorders, yoga can help enhance the life of people. It works wonders,” Abhijeet said.

Those who participated in today’s yoga session were taught simple breathing exercises that can help deal with stress. The participants were also made to practice a few asanas and stretching exercises. About one hundred people participated in the session.
