Committee formed to investigate Somanur bus stand collapse incident

A committee formed under an IAS Officer, Gagandeep Sigh will investigate and submit a detailed report in the Somanur bus stand collapse incident within a span of two months.

The roof of the bus stand that collapsed on Sept 7 killed five persons and left 12 others severely injured..

Civic activists in the city have however expressed concern that there has been no arrest so far. Nor has a case been registered on the contractor or those responsible for the incident.

According to police sources said a case has been registered under the CrPC section 174 (accidental death) and investigations are on.

Similarly on September 9, a small portion of the same bus stand collapsed injuring a government bus driver, Ranganathan. This incident has further created panic among the commuters and shop keepers inside the bus stand.
