Constable fatally knocked down

An armed reserve police constable was fatally knocked down by a car near here last night.
Ramanathan, 40, residing at the police quarters in VOC Nagar in Thanajvur and serving as driver in the armed reserve police, was returning home in his motorbike from Thondarampattu village in Orathanadu taluk last night when the mishap occurred near Soorakkottai village.
A car coming from the opposite direction knocked him down. Ramanathan who was grievously injured was rushed to the Thanjavur Medical College Hospital (TMCH), where he was declared brought dead.
Thanjavur taluk police have registered a case.
