UDHAGAMANDALAM: A 45-year-old construction worker died after the loose mud caved in on him, while he was working at a construction site here on Tuesday.
According to police, Durairaj and five others were removing mud from the pit for laying pillar for a new building on Garden Road, when the loose mud fell on them.
Even as fire and rescue services personnel arrived at the spot for rescue operations, other workers managed to come out with minor injuries. However, Durairaj could not be rescued. Police could only retrieve his body.
