Within ten days of arrest in an alleged custodial torture and rape case in Udumalpet, three cops including an SI were granted bail by the Coimbatore Judicial Magistrate Court.

According to sources, CBI sleuths arrested Sub-Inspector Vijayakumar and Constables Tilak Kumar and Ranganayagam attached to the Udumalpet police station in the Tirupur District on October 19th for torturing Chandra who was arrested for murdering her land lady, Leelavathy.

Though she was arrested on the night of August 11 2014, the arrest was shown to the court only three days later during which she was reportedly tortured sexually and raped.

A case was registered in this regard against the cops and they were presented before the Coimbatore Magistrate Judicial after the direction of the Madras High Court. They were remanded by the court and were jailed at the Coimbatore Central prison on October 19th.

Since the accused were booked under seven major sections including sexual harassment and physical torture, it was believed that the accused would not get bail easily.

However, the accused who were produced before the court on Friday, were granted a conditional bail with instructions that they should sign every morning at the Court .
