Corporation Commissioner assumes charge as special officer

Commissioner of Coimbatore Municipal Corporation K Vijayakarthikeyan took additional charge today as the Special Officer of the Coimbatore Corporation for the local body polls.

Assistant Directors and Executive officers who were appointed for town and village panchayats also took charge after the order was released on Monday.

According to sources, the Commissioner is likely to continue as the Special Officer for six months as elections could be conducted before May 2017.

The Commissioner is also expected to speed up pending Corporation projects by holding meetings with officials.

Officials said that inter-departmental meetings would be held to ensure that all projects were completed within the stipulated time, adding that the public can continue to register their grievances with the Corporation.
