The Coimbatore Corporation has come out with an innovative idea of introducing a mobile application to get suggestions and engage people in the ‘Smart City Project’. The ‘Community App’ is likely to be launched by September 12.

Corporation Commissioner K Vijayakarthikeyan told The Covai Post that without public participation, “we can’t be successful in the smart city project. In day to day life, people are getting connected through the Internet with the help of smart phones. This mobile application is going to be launched in Android and iOS operating systems”.

He said the app would help in getting suggestions and poll-based opinion from the public in knowing the status of the project as well as in understanding what they feel about the development of the project.

The commissioner said people in the city can send suggestions for the city’s development. These will be monitored by corporation committee members.

The mobile application will bring active participation of the people, he added.
