Coimbatore: A case under IPC section 109 has been registered at Trichy against P. Muruganandam, Joint Transport Commissioner, Coimbatore zone and his wife Leelavathy on possession of pecuniary resources and properties disproportionate to their known sources of income, according to a statement from DVAC.

Raids were conducted at Trichy, Karur and Coimbatore in regards to the above case. The accused have residences in all three places.

Police recovered 223.5 sovereign gold jewels worth Rs. 50,06,400/- , 224 Gram Silver vessels worth Rs. 48,980/- , cash amounting to Rs. 98,595/- and a number of property documents.

These were measured and scrutinized with the help of two independent witnesses and a jewel appraiser.

Further two numbers of State Bank of India, Avoor branch locker keys has also been seized. An investigation has been launched to unearth further details in the case.
