Ooty: A newly married couple from Chennai on their honeymoon was injured today when a bison suddenly attacked them in the popular Sim’s Park in nearby Coonoor.

Dinesh (29) and Thamarai (28) were visiting the park, some 18 kms from here, when a bison suddenly appeared from the bushes and attacked, resulting in the couple falling down some 25 feet, police said.

Noticing the incident, others in the park raised an alarm and managed to drive away the animal.

The injured couple was taken to the Government Hospital in Coonoor and given first aid. Later, considering the serious injuries suffered by Thamarai, both were taken to the Government Hospital in Coimbatore for further treatment.
