The Madras High Court today directed the Central Bureau of Investigation to look into the seizure of Rs. 570 crores in three trucks on May13 and submit a report in two weeks.
Justice Subbiah issued the directive.
The directive came following a writ filed by DMK MP T.K.S. Elangovan.
In his petition, Elangovan said one of the trucks had a fake registration number while the other two vehicles had fake papers.
Alleging that the bank officials created forged documents, including RBI authorisation to transport that huge money, Elangovan said “the offence comes under he Prevention of Corruption Act.”
Barely three days before the State Assembly elections, a flying squad, deployed by the Election Commission seized the truck in Tirupur.
However, the State Bank of India informed that the money belonged to it and it was being transported to Hyderabad when it was seized.
