Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu today assured that the Railways would soon introduce three trains between Coimbatore and Bengaluru, that has been a long pending demand.

Participating at a function at the Coimbatore Junction, the Minister said while the much anticipated night train and a Shatabdi Express would be introduced between the cities soon, an intercity express would also be introduced before Diwali.

The Centre was willing to do more to the State in terms of increasing railway lines and introducing new trains in some routes. “We have invested up to Rs. 250 crores for passengers amenities in Tamil Nadu alone and further collaborations with the State will help increase implementation of many projects,” he said and added that the National Democratic Alliance Government at the Centre had invested up to Rs. 4000 crores in the last two-and-a-half years in the State.

“We had invested Rs. 605 crores initially. It was increased to Rs. 1555 crores in 2015-2016 and we will invest up to Rs. 1645 crores in 2016-2017,” Prabhu added.
