CPI-M’s senior party leader and polit bureau member, Prakash Karat has said that the party’s central committee will decide the alliance and strategies for the states that are going to the polls, at its two-day meeting from February 17.
He said that the state committee will decide on how to go about the West Bengal elections during its two-day meeting on February 12 and 13, and the central committee will take a final call. West Bengal goes to the polls in May this year.
CPI-M is part of the four-party Peoples Welfare Front in Tamil Nadu, with MDMK, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal, and CPI as partners.
Karat blamed the centre for increasing the excise duty on oil thrice this year, despite the crude oil prices crashing all over the world. He said that by increasing duties, the government had failed to pass on the benefit to the common man, and instead put burden on them as the prices of essential commodities and other goods had gone up.
He also claimed that BJP’s relationship with the other parties of the NDA was not smooth as the party was making the decisions without consulting with them.
