The Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Association of India (CREDAI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation for a waste segregation programme.

The pact, signed by CREDAI chief Rajesh Lund and Corporation Commissioner K. Vijayakarthikeyan, aims to promote the theme ‘No dumping, my waste – my responsibility.’

The theme, in vogue in the city since January, highlights the importance of segregation of waste in homes.

Suresh Bhandari, head of the programme stressed the need for two bins-one bag concept. “Wastes will be segregated into dry inorganic, recycled and organic wastes. The success of our programme lies entirely with the people,” he said.

Young entrepreneurs will be roped in to educate people on this, he added.
C.R. Swaminatha, President of Residents’ Awareness Association of Coimbatore (RAAC), V. Mohan, vice-president CREDAI and N. Rajagopal, treasurer CREDAI participated.
