Kochi: It was a series of scientific methods of investigation and questioning adopted by the Kerala police that helped in cracking the actor abduction and rape quotation case which has landed actor Dileep in jail.

Among them were `stool pigeon’ where the police used a decoy to extract information about others involved in the crime. Besides, it also employed the `Reid technique’ where attempts are made to shift the blame away from the suspect and minimise the frequency of denials by the suspect, according to sources.

These methods helped the police get key information to prove that the actor was abducted on the basis of quotation given by actor Dileep.

Prime accused Pulsar Suni and his accomplices stood their ground right from the beginning that the video of the actor was taken to blackmail her and get a hefty ransom. They were adamant in denying the role of anyone behind the incident.

Not convinced by this and having got sufficient indications that the actor was behind giving the quotation to rape her, they decided to bank on these two methods to make the accused spill the beans.

The police succeeded in managing to convince the accused that those who had employed them for executing the quotation were not bothered to come to his aid. Later, employing the stool pigeon method, police used the assistance of under trials who have helped in different investigations to draw Suni into the net and open up.

The interactions between Suni and the under trials were recorde. Some of the officials pretending to be having sympathy with the accused managed to persuade him to confess which helped in unfurling the case.
